Cherry Nut Slices

Ingredients
  • 1 3/4 cup flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3/4 cup butter or margarine
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 Tablespoons milk
  • 1 cup (8 ounces) candied cherries
  • 3/4 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1/2 cup chopped Brazil nuts or filberts

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F
  2. Sift flour with salt, cinnamon, and baking soda.
  3. Cream butter. Add brown sugar, vanilla and milk; cream well.
  4. Add dry ingredients gradually; mix thoroughly.
  5. Stir in cherries and nuts.
  6. Divide dough in half.
  7. Shape into roll, 12 inches long; wrap in wax paper; chill 4-6 hours or overnight.
  8. Cut into 1/4 inch slices. Place on ungreased cookie sheets.
  9. Bake at 350 degrees F 10-12 minutes until golden.

Makes approximately 6 1/2 dozen cookies.
